Watch out for the Warnings of the Tarot
The Tarot is a tool from which we can learn more about ourselves and our position in the ‘big picture’. In order that we may fully understand our strengths and weakness, the cards must reveal all aspects of our personality, both positive and negative. In addition, the deck is able to tune into the energies that are swirling around us and give us warnings of events that are yet to come.
Two Warning Cards
There are two warning cards in the Tarot deck that draw the most negative reactions from questioners: the Tower and the Devil. However, despite their traditionally sinister associations, there is more to these cards than first meets the eye.
Because of its links with justice, the image of the Tower is often associated with the theme of death and destruction. However, it does not necessarily portend death in the physical sense. The Tower may signify the death or end of a way of life or a particular idea. Rather than purely being concerned with the end of something, the Tower tends to insinuate that a change is coming.
Likewise, the Devil has all sorts of association with bad luck and evil. However, in the Tarot, this image symbolizes the possibility that the questioner will be subject to temptation of some sort. Temptation can come in many forms, such as drugs, drink or adultery, but the fact that it has been highlighted gives the questioner a chance to review their personal situation.
Reversed Cards
Reversed cards are also often met with dread. However, these too should be regarded as warnings, rather than as portents of doom. A card drawn straight will point out certain energies at work and make them pertinent to the questioner’s life. Reversed, these energies may take on a negative aspect, hinting at weaknesses in the questioner’s character or at situations that remain unresolved.
There is no such thing as a ‘bad’ card in a Tarot deck. Instead, there are cards that give you insight into your deeper feelings and cards that will warn you that a negative aspect is becoming dominant. Warnings are to be acted upon, so that we can shape the futures that we want.
